IN DARKNESS

A polish Academy Award candidate, "In Darkness" is based on the true story of a Lvov-based Pole who saved a group of Jews by hiding them in the labyrinth of sewers beneath the city. It's a touching tale of love and betrayal, and also a story about how far one can go to survive. While trying to be as honest in the depiction of reality as possible, the movie was mostly shot in the dark. It's rare that a film leaves me shaken these days, but this one definitely did.
