I've been clearing space on my computer and stumbled onto a few more images I shot backstage at Marina & the Diamonds' "Hollywood" video back in 2009 (!). Definitely made me remember what an amazing shoot it was.
How gorgeous is the new Peter Jensen look book shot in LA by Autumn de Wilde? Inspired by the images of Anna Karina, the shoot was styled by Shirley Kurata and features Tennesse Thomas and BlackBlack’s Diva Dompe among others. To see more images, go to DazedDigital.
... for putting a really nice note about me and my work on Paul Smith's blog. See the write-up here (you need to scroll down quite a bit!) and Dal's work here.
Along the 'Candy' line, 'Pretty Baby' is yet another movie about a young prostitute. The story might be a bit morbid at times and the image of semi-clas teenage Brooke Shields quite controversial, but the cinematography in the film is seriously breathtaking. Thank you Anh for bringing this to my attention.
It's no secret Meadham Kirchoff are some of today's most imaginative and daring designers, but this season, they've also proved their knack for creating real desirable clothing. Multiple nods to Chanel's tweed jacket as well as styling inspired by a funeral ceremony (complete with little shrines installed on the runway) made this - in my opinion - LFW's most exciting presentation. Needless to say, those clothes are a dream to photograph too.
I had an extreme pleasure of taking pictures of Gaultier and his muse Farida Khelfa backstage at his couture show. Farida's documentary on Gaultier - 'Jean Paul Gaultier ou les codes bouleversés' - premiered in France in January. Seeing that kind of mutual affection and understanding within fashion is rare, but those two are a real proof it can happen, and when it does happen, it lasts for years too.
I always loved Vlada, so it was amazing for me to see her backstage at Zac Posen yesterday. Among photographers who shot backstage there was Martin Parr - it's going to be epic.
Just got to Paris from Milan, where I reported on the shows for Dazed Digital. My favourites included Jil Sander, Emilio Pucci, Bottega Veneta and of course, Prada.
